Carmen Cordero - March 2010
Carmen Cordero was born and raised in the Dominican Republic. After traveling throughout the United States of America, she arrived in Mexico City in 1982, where she began a career as a painter. She painted from the heart, with only her raw talent, and no formal instruction on which to rely. She moved to Miami, Florida in 1985 at the same time The Ballet arrived at Lincoln Road under the direction of Eduart Villella. Florida Art Center opened its doors to the art community, and studios and galleries began to open along Lincoln Road.
Although successful with her painting, Carmen felt the need to probe more deeply into her natural abilities. In 1990, she went to New York City, where she received her first formal instruction in art. She studied at Westchester University, and earned a Bachelor Degree in Fine Art.
Carmen’s art relies on both “Chance and Intuition”, tireless in the investigation of movement, space, figure and time. As a result, her paintings are vivid splashes and washes of color, creating organic forms of beauty and vitality that coalesce on the canvas.
Julio Green- February 2010
Julio Green creates abstract paintings that are expressions of his responses to music and the force around his subjects. Born and raised in Honduras, Julio has been drawing since his early years, and began painting at the age of 18 as a means to express himself in ways for which words were inadequate. After years of self-teaching, Julio came to the U.S. and began taking classes to learn new techniques. He then combined his new knowledge and years of experience to develop his own techniques. His works have been featured in numerous exhibitions, leading to his winning the 2004 Express South Florida® Reader’s Choice Award for "Best Male Visual Artist". Winner of the grand prize The Van Gogh Award at the First Annual Quick Draw Art Event 2007, developed by Broward Art Guild.
Julio’s process of self-discovery and his art go hand-in-hand, as is evident in the varying disguises he crafts on canvas.
Jacklyn Laflamme was born and raised in Montreal Canada, graduating with degrees in Creative Arts and Interior Design, both with honors. She began a professional career leveraging her design sensibilities as a Visual Display Artist, and later entered the world of interior design for corporate jets- traveling the world designing jet interiors for heads of state, nobility and the leaders of the business, sports and entertainment worlds.
In 2000, she decided to live her dream and work as an artist. She was emboldened in this decision by the success of her first solo show, selling four paintings on opening night, she committed herself to making art full-time. In the last several years she has sold hundreds of paintings through galleries and direct commissions. Now residing in Florida, she is an award winning artist, a grant recipient and is emerging in the public art scene with her vibrant murals.
June Cashwell is best known for her bold and evocative paintings. The
signature of her style is an element of symmetry in each piece, representing
a sentiment of unity and completion.
June grew up in New York in a family of artists and musicians, and was never
without some art medium nearby - always exploring techniques to hone her own
artistic perspective. Her primary art teacher was her father, an
accomplished artist, interior designer and graduate of Parsons.
According to June, "my art starts in my dreams, travels through my heart and
ends up on the canvas."
