This year's United & Proud exhibit will be on display from June 7- 25, 2010 at Gallery Six, Broward County Main Library, 100 S. Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale. The opening reception will be on Wednesday, June 9, from 5:30 to 7:30PM. Admission is free and open to the public.
The exhibition is designed to showcase ArtsUnited artists. The members-only exhibit is not juried, but space is limited and ArtsUnited reserves the right to reject work because of space limitations. Artists may supmit up to two pieces for the show for a modest $10 entry fee. There is no theme, but work that has been shown before in an ArtsUnited exhibit will be rejected. Works will be judged for ribbons, and cash prizes totalling $800 will be awarded for Best of Show, People's Choice and Best of Class for Photography, Painting, 3-D/Mixed Media, and Drawing/Print.
This year's show will be judged by Vee Corallo, curator for ArtServe Gallery and curator for numerous Avante-Garde art shows in New York's East Village in the 80's including Andy Warhol, Keith Herring, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Ms. Corallo worked for MOMA in New York as a museum educator and she is currently the curator for Purvis Young.Artist Applications may be downloaded here.
